The work
What kind of projects do you work on?
AI and automation, digital products, websites, and product design. That includes machine learning models, chat and search over your own knowledge, extraction, orchestration, web and mobile apps, internal tools, and company sites. I also design the interface when I am building the product.
Do you work with startups or established companies?
Both. The useful distinction is whether the problem is clear enough to build, not the size of the company.
Can you handle both design and development?
Yes. On most projects I do the flows, the interface and the engineering. That removes a handoff. If you already have a design, I can build from it.
What technologies do you primarily use?
Next.js, React, Angular, TypeScript, etc. on the frontend. Python and FastAPI, etc. when there is a service. Flutter for mobile. PostgreSQL, and Firebase or Supabase when they fit. Docker, Kubernetes, Apache Kafka, etc. when the system needs them. I do not force one stack onto every brief.
Do you build AI and automation?
Yes. That includes machine learning models, chat and search over your own documents (RAG), extraction, agents, and orchestration. Local and open models can be set up so a subscription is not required for every call, and requests can be routed to the model that fits. If a workflow doesn't need a model, I'll say so.
How a project runs
Can you redesign an existing website or application?
Yes. I look at what is slow, confusing or hard to change, keep what still works, and rebuild the rest.
Do you work with WordPress?
Yes, when you need to edit pages yourself. For something closer to an application, I usually recommend Next.js.
Do you provide support after launch?
Yes. That can be fixes, small features, or a retainer. We agree the shape of it before launch, not after something breaks.
How long does a typical project take?
A focused site is often a few weeks. A product or internal tool is longer, sometimes a few months. I will put a plan in writing before work starts.
How much does a project cost?
It depends on scope, integrations and how much design is involved. I price the project in front of us. I do not sell fixed packages.
Starting
Where do clients need to be?
Anywhere. I'm based in the UK and work remotely with clients in other countries.
Can you join an existing team?
Yes. I can own a project, or join a team for a feature, a rebuild, or a stretch of engineering.
Do you sign NDAs?
Yes, when the work is confidential.
What do you need before a project starts?
The goal, who it is for, anything that already exists, and any hard constraints on time or budget. If some of that is still fuzzy, we can sort it out in the first conversation.
How do I start?
For a project, use the start a project page. For anything else, use the contact page. Say what you need, and I will reply by email.
Have you finished studying?
Yes. The MSc in Computer Science at the University of Nottingham ran from 2024 to 2026 and is completed.
Is every project listed on this site?
No. The projects page shows some of them. More can be added.
Does client work replace employment?
No. Software, websites and interface design for clients have run alongside employment since 2017.
Will you say if a model is the wrong tool?
Yes. If a form, a filter, or a clearer empty state removes the task, that is the recommendation. A chatbot over your own knowledge is still real AI work when it is grounded in your data and tied to a task you already have.
